About this tool

There is no single formula for turning a CGPA into a percentage. CBSE publishes CGPA × 9.5 for its 10-point scale, and many Indian universities use multipliers of their own. In Pakistan, HEC’s guidelines grade by marks bands and do not set a conversion, so many students use a simple proportion, CGPA ÷ 4 × 100, unless their university publishes something else.

If an employer or a scholarship asks for a percentage, check your transcript or your university’s rules first: many print an equivalence table or state the multiplier. This calculator shows the working, so you can say exactly how you converted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert CGPA to percentage?

On a 4.00 scale, a common method is CGPA ÷ 4 × 100, so 3.42 becomes 85.5%. For CBSE’s 10-point CGPA, multiply by 9.5.

Is there an official HEC formula?

No. HEC’s semester guidelines grade by marks and grade points and do not set a CGPA to percentage formula, so use your university’s if it publishes one.

Why multiply by 9.5 for CBSE?

It is the conversion CBSE published for its 10-point CGPA system. Other boards and universities may use different numbers.

Can I convert a percentage to CGPA?

Reverse the formula: on a 4.00 scale, CGPA is about the percentage ÷ 25; for CBSE, it is the percentage ÷ 9.5.

What grade is 80%?

On HEC’s scale, marks from 80 to 84 are an A−, worth 3.34 to 3.66 grade points. The Marks to grade tab shows the full table.

Is this a CGPA to percentage converter?

Yes. Enter your CGPA and it converts it to a percentage with the formula your university or board uses.
