Image upscaler

Increase an image’s resolution up to four times with an AI that draws clean edges instead of blurry, blocky pixels. It runs on your device, so your image is never uploaded.

  • Files never leave your device

  • No watermark
Image UpscalerMake an image 2× or 4× bigger with AI, keeping it sharp.Starting… the tool runs entirely in your browser and needs JavaScript.

How to use Image Upscaler

  1. Choose the image to enlarge: a JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC file up to about 1,600 × 1,600 pixels.
  2. 4× is already selected; choose 2× for a smaller file. The new size in pixels is shown under the image.
  3. Tap "Enhance with AI". The first time, the AI (about 19 MB) downloads once; then it upscales the image part by part.
  4. Compare before and after, then download the upscaled image as a PNG, JPG or WebP.

Why use Image Upscaler

2× or 4× larger

A 500 × 500 image becomes 2,000 × 2,000 pixels at 4×, up to 4,096 pixels across.

Sharp, not stretched

Ordinary resizing blurs edges and shows blocks. The AI redraws them cleanly and removes noise and compression marks.

Colours kept as they are

The upscaler leaves light and colour alone. Switch on Auto fix or use the sliders if you want to change them.

Private and offline

The AI runs in your browser, so images never leave your device, and it works offline once downloaded.

About this tool

Upscaling means making an image bigger: more pixels across and down. Plain resizing only spreads the pixels it has, so a small image turns soft and blocky when enlarged. An AI upscaler predicts the detail that belongs between them. This one uses Real-ESRGAN, an open model trained on real photos that were shrunk, blurred and compressed, so it redraws edges, textures and lines cleanly as it enlarges them. It suits photos, product images, illustrations and screenshots with text.

For printing, you need about 300 pixels per inch for a sharp result: a 10 × 15 cm (4 × 6 in) print needs about 1,200 × 1,800 pixels. A 600 × 400 image upscaled 4× becomes 2,400 × 1,600, enough for that print. Choose PNG to keep every detail, or JPG or WebP for a smaller file for the web. To clean up a photo without enlarging it, or to fix its light and colour as well, use the photo enhancer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enlarge an image without losing quality?

Largely, yes. Ordinary resizing makes edges blurry; the AI upscaler keeps them sharp and removes noise. It cannot invent detail the image never had, such as a readable number plate from a few pixels.

What does 4x upscaling mean?

The image becomes four times as wide and four times as tall, so it has 16 times as many pixels: 500 × 500 becomes 2,000 × 2,000. 2x doubles the width and the height.

How large can the result be?

Up to 4,096 pixels across, from images up to about 1,600 × 1,600 pixels. 4× is available when the result stays within that size.

Is it free and private?

Yes. There is no sign-up or watermark, and unlike most online upscalers, it upscales the image in your browser without uploading it.

Which format should I save?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly and suits graphics and screenshots. JPG or WebP make much smaller files for photos.
