About this tool
A days-between-dates calculator answers the questions that come up around deadlines, visas, leases, projects and pregnancies: how many days until the exam, how long since the contract started, how many weeks to the wedding. This one counts calendar days exactly, taking leap years and the lengths of months into account, and shows the same span as weeks, months and years, since a landlord counts months while an airline counts days.
The count runs from the start of the first date to the start of the second, the convention calendars and spreadsheets use, so two consecutive dates are one day apart. When both days count, as with hotel nights, car rentals and event tickets, tick "count the end day too" to add one. Working days leave out the weekend of the country you pick (Saturday and Sunday in most places, Friday and Saturday in the Gulf) and any holidays you list.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are there between two dates?
Type both dates; the answer is the number of calendar days from the first to the second. Put the later date first and it says how many days ago the other was.
Does it count the first and last day?
It counts from the first day to the second (Monday to Wednesday is 2 days). Tick "count the end day too" to include both days, as hotels and rentals do.
How are months counted when the days do not line up?
Whole months first, then the days left over: 31 January to 1 March is 1 month and 1 day. Month ends are clamped, so 31 January plus a month is 28 or 29 February.
Are leap years included?
Yes. 29 February is counted where it exists, so 1 January 2024 to 1 January 2025 is 366 days and 1 year.
Can I count only working days?
Yes. The working days figure leaves out the weekend of the country you choose and any holidays you list, and the Working days tab does this in detail.
