How to use Photo Enhancer

About this tool
An AI photo enhancer improves photo quality most when a photo is small or soft: old prints scanned at a low size, pictures saved from chat apps, screenshots and tight crops. The AI was trained on sharp photos that had been shrunk, blurred, compressed and made noisy, so it learned to reverse that kind of damage: as it enlarges a photo it draws clean edges and removes noise instead of stretching pixels. It cannot recover what is not there. A face a few pixels wide will not become a portrait, and text too blurry to read stays unreadable.
Everything happens on your device. The first time you enhance a photo, the AI model and the engine that runs it (about 19 MB) download once and are kept by your browser, so after that the tool works offline. The photo is enhanced part by part, and the preview fills in as it goes: a photo of 1,000 × 1,000 pixels takes a minute or two on a laptop, and longer on older phones. Photos larger than about 1,600 × 1,600 pixels already have plenty of detail, so for those the tool fixes light and colour only.
