About the finance
The finance calculators do the money maths that households in the Gulf and South Asia ask about most: zakat on savings, gold and investments against the silver or gold nisab; a loan’s monthly instalment and total interest, with the schedule and the difference between flat and reducing rates; end-of-service gratuity under the labour laws of Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia; and salary tax in Pakistan by the current Finance Act. Each page names the law or the rule it applies and the date it was checked, because a figure without its year is a figure you cannot compare with your payslip or your contract.
The calculators show their working line by line, slab by slab for tax and year by year for gratuity, so the page is the calculation rather than a second explanation of it. They are a guide, not advice: a contract may set better terms than the law, a bank may round differently, and the amount of zakat on jewellery or a pension depends on which scholarly view you follow. The pages say where those judgements lie instead of hiding them.
Frequently asked questions
Are these figures the ones my employer or bank will use?
They follow the law or the standard formula, and the page says which. Your contract or bank may use better terms or different rounding; compare the result with the breakdown on your payslip or loan offer, and ask when they differ. The note under each calculator says the same.
Which nisab does the zakat calculator use?
Silver by default, which gives the lower threshold and is the view many scholars recommend so that more wealth is purified; gold is one tap away. Both are valued at the price per gram you enter, so the figures are today’s.
Are the gratuity rules the current ones?
Yes, by the labour law named on the page: Qatar’s Law No. 14 of 2004, the UAE’s Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, and Saudi Arabia’s Labour Law. Each page shows the date the rules were last checked and the cases, resignation and termination, that change the amount.
Is my salary or savings figure stored anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server or kept after you close the page.
