How to use Remove Duplicate Lines
- Paste your list into the box, one item per line: emails, names, phone numbers, keywords or anything else.
- Keep “Remove duplicates” selected. Choose whether “Amina” and “amina” count as the same, and whether to trim spaces and remove empty lines.
- The clean list appears next to yours, with how many duplicates and empty lines were removed.
- Copy it, download it as a .txt file, or use it as the new list to sort, clean, number or join it.
Why use Remove Duplicate Lines
Smart duplicates
Ignore capital letters and extra spaces, so “Amina ” and “amina” count as one. Keep the first or the last copy.
Sort any list
A to Z, Z to A, shortest first, reversed or shuffled, in the right order for English, Arabic and Urdu, with “item 10” after “item 9”.
Clean up and number
Trim spaces, remove empty lines and punctuation, add line numbers or remove them, and add text before or after each line.
Join and split
Turn a column into a comma-separated line for a spreadsheet or an email, or split one line back into a list.
About this tool
Lists collect duplicates: email addresses merged from two sign-up sheets, keywords from several tools, names typed twice. Paste the list and every line that repeats an earlier one is removed, keeping the first copy, so what is left is a list of unique lines. With “Ignore capital letters” and “Trim spaces” on, lines that differ only in capitals or stray spaces count as duplicates too, which catches most copies from spreadsheets and forms. Empty lines can go as well.
The other tabs turn this duplicate line remover into a complete list cleaner: sort alphabetically (with Arabic and Urdu in their own alphabetical order, and numbers inside text in numeric order), trim spaces, remove punctuation, add or remove line numbers, add a prefix or suffix to each line, and join lines with commas or split a comma-separated line into a list. Everything runs in your browser, so a list of customer emails or phone numbers is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove duplicates from a list?
Paste the list, one item per line. Duplicates are removed at once and the clean list appears next to it, with a count of what was removed.
Are “Amina” and “amina” duplicates?
Only if “Ignore capital letters” is on, which it is at first. Switch it off to keep lines that differ in capitals.
Can I keep the original order?
Yes. Removing duplicates keeps the order of the first copies. Switch on “Sort A–Z too” if you want the list sorted.
How do I delete empty lines?
Leave “Remove empty lines” on when removing duplicates, or use the Clean up tab, which also trims spaces and can remove punctuation.
Is my list uploaded?
No. The list is processed in your browser and kept only in this tab.
