About this tool

Income tax on salary in Pakistan is charged by slabs set in each year's Finance Act and deducted monthly by the employer under section 149 of the Income Tax Ordinance. For tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027) the first Rs 600,000 a year is tax free, then 1% up to Rs 1.2 million, 11% to Rs 2.2 million, 20% to Rs 3.2 million, 25% to Rs 4.1 million, 29% to Rs 5.6 million, 32% to Rs 7 million and 35% above that, each band adding a fixed amount for the bands below it. The 2025-26 table had 23% and 30% bands and a 9% surcharge above Rs 10 million, which is why most salaries pay a little less this year.

The calculator applies the slabs to your taxable income for the year (salary times twelve, plus any other taxable income) and divides the tax by twelve for the monthly deduction. It does not include tax credits, adjustable withholding on your phone or bank, or reliefs such as donations and investments, which you claim in your return; it is the figure to expect on the payslip. The slabs change with every June budget: the year, source and the date they were checked are shown under the inputs.

Frequently asked questions

What are the salary tax slabs for 2026-27 in Pakistan?

Up to Rs 600,000 a year: nil. Rs 600,001 to 1.2 million: 1% of the amount above 600,000. To 2.2 million: Rs 6,000 plus 11%. To 3.2 million: Rs 116,000 plus 20%. To 4.1 million: Rs 316,000 plus 25%. How much tax is deducted on a salary of Rs 100,000 a month?

Rs 1.2 million a year falls at the top of the 1% band: Rs 6,000 a year, or Rs 500 a month, in 2026-27.

How much tax on Rs 300,000 a month?

Rs 3.6 million a year: Rs 316,000 plus 25% of the Rs 400,000 above 3.2 million, Rs 416,000 a year or Rs 34,667 a month, leaving Rs 265,333 a month. Under the 2025-26 slabs it was Rs 466,000.

Does the calculator include the surcharge?

The 9% surcharge on income above Rs 10 million applied in 2025-26 and is applied when that year is chosen; it does not apply to salaried people in 2026-27.

Is this the exact amount on my payslip?

It is the tax under the slabs on your salary plus other taxable income. Employers may also adjust for tax already withheld elsewhere, medical allowance and other exemptions, and reliefs you have declared, so a payslip can differ a little.
