How to use Crop Image
- Add one photo or several (JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC), or take them with your camera. On a computer, Windows or Mac, you can paste a screenshot. With several, a filmstrip shows them with a tick on each one done.
- Pick a shape: Free, Square 1:1, Circle, Post 4:5, Wide 16:9, Story 9:16, Photo 3:4 or Print 3:2. Drag the box to move it and its handles to resize it; arrow keys nudge.
- Rotate a quarter turn or flip if the photo needs it. Under "Size and format", set an output width, such as 1080, and a format if the site asks for one.
- Click "Crop", or with several photos "Crop & next" until the last one, then save or share them, together as a ZIP or one by one. "Adjust crop" takes you back to the same box.
Why use Crop Image
- Shapes people actually need
- Square or Circle for profile photos, 4:5 and 9:16 for Instagram and stories, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and banners, 3:4 and 3:2 for photo prints, or a free box for anything else.
- Exact output size
- Type the width you need, 1080 for Instagram or 400 for a profile picture, and the height follows the shape, so the picture is ready to upload.
- Every pixel of the original
- The crop is cut from the full-size photo, not from the preview, so a crop from a 12-megapixel photo stays sharp.
- One photo or a batch
- Add several photos and crop them one after another; each keeps its own shape and box, "Same for all" copies a shape to the rest, and everything downloads together as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded: the photos are cropped by your browser on your device.
About this tool
Cropping changes what a photo shows: it removes the edges and keeps the part you want, which is also how you get the exact shape a site expects. A profile picture is usually shown as a square or a circle, so a square crop centred on the face looks right everywhere; an Instagram post is 4:5 at 1080 × 1350 pixels and a story is 9:16 at 1080 × 1920; a YouTube thumbnail and most website banners are 16:9. Choosing the shape first and then moving the box is faster than guessing with a free box.
Cropping does not change the pixels it keeps, so quality stays the same unless you also ask for a smaller output width, in which case the picture is scaled down with high-quality smoothing. A photo saved as JPG has no transparency, so a PNG with a see-through background becomes white if you choose JPG; keep PNG for logos and stickers. If the cropped picture must also be under a size limit in KB, send it on to the image compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Can it crop a circle, for a WhatsApp DP or a profile picture?
Yes: choose "Circle" and the box gets a round window. The picture is saved as a PNG with see-through corners (JPG fills them white). For a WhatsApp DP or an Instagram profile picture a square is still the safer upload, because those apps cut their own circle from it; the circle is for slides, documents, websites and logos where you place the picture yourself.
Which size should I crop for Instagram?
Posts: 4:5 at 1080 pixels wide (1080 × 1350) or Square 1:1 at 1080 × 1080. Stories and Reels: 9:16 at 1080 × 1920. Pick the shape, type 1080 as the output width, and the height follows.
Will the quality drop?
No. The crop is cut from the full-size original, and the pixels inside the box are kept as they are. Only an output width smaller than the crop scales the picture down, and that uses high-quality smoothing.
Can I crop a HEIC photo from an iPhone?
Yes. HEIC photos open directly; the result is saved as JPG unless you choose PNG or WebP. Keep PNG for pictures with transparent areas.
Can I rotate or flip before cropping?
Yes. "Rotate" turns the photo a quarter turn each time and "Flip" mirrors it; the crop box follows. "Reset" puts everything back.
Can I crop many photos at once?
Yes. Add them all; a filmstrip shows them and you crop one after another with "Crop & next". Skip keeps a photo as it is. At the end, save them together as a ZIP, or one by one, and "Adjust a crop" goes back to any of them.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your device; nothing is sent to a server, which is why it also works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I take a photo and crop it straight away?
Yes. Tap "Take a photo" on a phone or "Use the webcam" on a computer, take the shot and tap Done, and it opens in the crop box. To shoot on your phone and crop on the computer, choose "Use your phone's camera" and scan the code; each photo you take on the phone opens here for cropping.
Photo crop kaise kare, crop photo kaise banaye? (How do I crop a photo on my phone?)
Crop aise karte hain: photo chunein, shape chunein, box ko kheench kar sahi jagah layein aur "Crop" dabayein. On a phone, open this page, choose the photo, pick a shape such as Square 1:1, drag the box over the part you want to keep and tap "Crop", then save or share the picture. Nothing is uploaded.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The crop box is made for fingers: drag a corner, an edge or the middle with one finger on an iPhone or Android phone. Pick one photo or several from your gallery, crop each in turn, and save them all at once.
