About this tool
Background noise makes a recording tiring to listen to and hard to understand: the hum of an air conditioner in a voice note, traffic behind a phone call, a keyboard in a meeting, chatter in a lecture hall. This noise remover uses DeepFilterNet3, a speech enhancement model that works on 48 kHz audio: it estimates, many times a second and for each band of frequencies, how much of the sound is voice, keeps that part and turns the rest down. Because it runs on your device, meetings, interviews and private voice notes never leave it, and there is no limit on how many or how long.
It is made for speech. It does not remove other people talking in the background, since that is speech too, and it cannot restore words that are completely drowned out; very loud music is also partly treated as noise. For a natural sound, choose Gentle, which keeps some room tone; for voice notes you want to transcribe, Strong or Maximum. Not reliably. Other voices are speech, so they stay, and music is only partly reduced. It works best on one speaker with noise behind them.
