Built by one engineer, on one laptop, for everyone
ToolboxHere started with a simple belief: useful technology shouldn't sit behind a paywall or a sign-up wall. Every free tool on this site, from PDF tools and text to speech to speech to text, runs on your own device. No upload, no account, no queue. That isn't a free trial; it's the point, and it stays free.
The Creative Studio is the next step. Video with sound, wallpapers, voice-overs, slide decks, music and 3D are too heavy for a phone or a browser, so today they run on a single graphics card in Doha, the one I tested every model on. I wire these open models together, tune them until they fit, measure every run, and price each job at roughly what it costs in GPU time. No markup tricks, no subscription you forget to cancel.
Where this is heading
There's no finish line and no deadline, just a direction:
- Scale what works, so the line moves faster on busy days.
- Add bigger open models that one laptop can't run: longer, sharper video, better voices and images.
- Bring in the best commercial models for the things open models can't do yet, at what they cost me plus a small, clearly shown fee for wiring them in.
A note from me
Good technology shouldn't depend on where you live or what you earn. ToolboxHere is built on open source so that everyone, everywhere, can use tools that would otherwise sit behind expensive subscriptions.
I've spent years researching, testing and learning these models, and I build ToolboxHere in the hours around a full-time job. That's why the free tools run on your own device: no servers, no pressure, no cost to anyone. The studio is my own laptop and my spare time, offered to you at what it costs to run.
There are no timelines here and no investors. A gift is exactly that: a kind thank-you that lets me spend a bit more on GPUs and a bit more time building. New things arrive when they're ready and good enough to be worth your time. I'd rather ship one tool that works than promise five.
