Why use 30 Minute Timer

Workout timer

Half an hour of moderate exercise on five days a week meets the WHO’s 150 minute weekly guideline for adults.

Study blocks

Thirty minutes of focused study, then a short break, is a rhythm many students keep up all day.

Screen time

A visible countdown makes "half an hour of games" clear to children, and the bell ends it without an argument.

Pick your alarm

Choose a bell, beep or chime for the 30 minute timer and press Test to check the volume before you start.

About this tool

Half an hour is one of the most useful lengths of time: a workout, a study session, a meeting, a child’s screen time, a cake in the oven or the free period in a car park. The World Health Organization advises adults to get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, which is 30 minutes on five days.

This 30 minute timer is set as soon as the page opens. It counts down to a fixed end time, so it stays exact in a background tab, and the sound is scheduled the moment you press Start. Turn on "Keep the screen on" if you use it on a phone or tablet.
