Why use Dice Roller

Fair rolls

Every face has exactly the same chance, from your browser’s cryptographic random numbers.

D4 to D20

Six-sided dice with pips, and the four, eight, ten, twelve and twenty-sided dice used in role-playing games, including a d20 roller.

Hold and re-roll

Keep the dice you want and roll the rest, for games like Yahtzee and Farkle.

Totals and history

The sum of every dice roll, and your last 12 rolls with their dice.

About this tool

Virtual dice are handy when the real ones go missing, for a board game over a video call, or when a role-playing game needs a D20. Choose the dice, press Roll and read the total: up to ten random dice roll at once, and the history keeps your last dozen rolls, so nobody argues about what came up.

With two six-sided dice, 7 is the most likely total (6 ways out of 36, about 17%), and 2 and 12 the least likely (1 way each, under 3%). Each die is rolled with your browser’s cryptographic random numbers, so every face is equally likely; the faces flickering while the dice tumble are only for show.

Frequently asked questions

Is this dice roller fair?

Yes. Every face of every die has the same chance, drawn from your browser’s cryptographic random numbers. The numbers flickering during a roll are only an animation.

Can I roll a D20?

Yes. Choose D20 above the Roll button; D4, D8, D10 and D12 are there too, for role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons.

How do I roll two dice?

Set How many to 2 and press Roll; the total is added up for you. You can roll up to 10 dice at once.

What does holding a die do?

A held die keeps its number when you roll again, and only the others are rolled, as in Yahtzee. Tap it again to let it roll.

What is the most common total with two dice?

Seven: 6 of the 36 possible pairs add up to 7, so it comes up about one roll in six.

Does it have D&D dice?

Yes. Pick D4, D6, D8, D10, D12 or D20, the dice used in DnD and other tabletop games.
