About this tool

Times in Makkah use the Umm al-Qura method, the official method of Saudi Arabia and of the Grand Mosque: Fajr when the sun is 18.5° below the horizon, Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib (2 hours during Ramadan), and the standard Asr, when a shadow equals the length of its object. The times are for the Haram and the centre of Makkah; Aziziyah, Ajyad and the outer districts are within a minute of them. Jeddah is 1 to 2 minutes later, Madinah about the same as Makkah at most times of year, and Riyadh about 30 minutes earlier.

Over the year, Fajr in Makkah moves from about 4:11 AM in early June to about 5:41 AM in mid-January, and Maghrib from about 5:38 PM in late November to about 7:08 PM at the start of July. Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on 8 February 2027; on the first day, suhoor ends at 5:38 AM and iftar is at 6:15 PM by the Umm al-Qura calendar. Standing in Makkah, the Qibla is the Kaaba itself: the tool shows the bearing from the centre of the city, 318.4° from true north, which only matters a few kilometres out.
