About this tool

India's e-Visa (eVisa) application lists these photo requirements: a JPEG with equal height and width, between 10 KB and 1 MB. It must show your full face from the front with your eyes open and no glasses, with your head centred and the whole head in the frame, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin. Use a plain light-coloured or white background, with no shadows on your face or the background and no border.

The same page also asks for a scan of your passport's photo page, as a PDF between 10 and 300 KB. Your photo is compared with your passport, so use a recent picture that looks like you do now.

Frequently asked questions

What size is an Indian e-Visa photo?

Square, as a JPEG between 10 KB and 1 MB. The form does not set exact pixels; 600 × 600 works well.

Why was my Indian e-Visa photo rejected?

Common reasons are a photo that is not square, glasses, shadows, a busy background, or a head cut off at the top.

Can I wear glasses?

No. The rules ask for a photo without spectacles.

What else do I upload?

A scan of your passport's photo page as a PDF, 10–300 KB. Our JPG to PDF tool can make one from a photo of the page.

How do I take an Indian e-Visa photo with my phone?

Stand in front of a plain white or light wall, look straight at the camera with your full face visible and no shadows, and ask someone else to take the photo. Crop it here to a square between the allowed sizes.

Is this Indian visa photo resizer free online?

Yes. It is a free online resizer that crops your photo to the square Indian visa size and specification, with no app and no upload. It is not an official checker, so compare the result with the requirements on the official e-Visa website before you submit it.
